Delhi looked skyward with hope on Tuesday — and found nothing but haze. The capital’s much-hyped cloud-seeding experiment, meant to coax rain and cleanse its choked air, ended in disappointment. Despite two back-to-back sorties by IIT Kanpur’s Cessna aircraft, not a single measurable drop of rain fell in Delhi. Only trace precipitation — 0.1 mm in Noida and 0.2 mm in Greater Noida — was reported, and even that came from a weather app, not an official gauge. What was meant to be India’s boldest experiment in weather modification turned, quite literally, into a damp squib.
