NCLT approves restructuring plan by Times Group

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in Mumbai has approved a major restructuring plan by , the parent company of the Times of India group.
The plan involves separating the company’s core newspaper business from its other ventures. As part of the restructuring, a new wholly owned subsidiary, Times Horizon, has been created to house all non-publishing businesses.
The two-member NCLT bench reviewed and cleared the scheme of arrangement, noting that it complies with the provisions of the Companies Act.
According to BMI, The Times Group said the restructuring aims to give sharper management focus to both segments, allowing the traditional publishing business and the rapidly expanding non-publishing portfolio to operate with strategies suited to their specific needs.
