Veteran journalist Tariq Bhat of The Week passes away at 54

Veteran journalist and The Week’s Senior Special Correspondent, Tariq Bhat, passed away in Srinagar on Tuesday at the age of 54. He reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest around 8.30 am, according to a post by The Week quoting his family.
A journalist known for his integrity and depth of reporting, Tariq had been with The Week for 24 years. He joined the Malayala Manorama Group as a Senior Correspondent on November 27, 2001. Before that, he worked with The Indian Express.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, expressed grief over Bhat’s demise on X (formerly Twitter).
