Journalist Raksha Kumar launches new mental health platform, Mentality

By Neeraja Gopalakrishnan in Media News on
India’s media landscape is set to welcome Mentality, the country’s first journalism platform dedicated entirely to mental health. Founded by multimedia journalist Raksha Kumar, the platform aims to fill a long-standing gap in how mental health is covered in Indian media — through stories that combine empathy, rigour and depth. The platform will launch in November 2025. “We believe in engaging storytelling — no matter the format,” says Kumar, describing Mentality’s editorial philosophy. The platform doesn’t see itself as an opinion space on mental health but as one grounded in reportage, where narratives, investigations, and analyses converge to make readers reflect on the systems that shape mental well-being. “At Mentality, we seek to raise questions on systems. There is a particular techno-economic system we exist in, which is making us more lonely, isolated, and weak. If we consider journalism’s duty to document history as it unfolds, then that is what we in

“You Can’t Schedule News”: Financial Express’ Anjana P V on deadlines, diaspora and the digital shift

By Pragadish Kirubakaran in Media News on
When you speak with Anjana P V, deputy copy editor at Financial Express, you realise quickly that she’s not just decoding U.S. policy stories for Indian readers — she’s bridging worlds. Kerala-born, Delhi-based, and digitally wired, Anjana has built a niche reporting on global affairs, immigration, and diaspora dynamics for an audience that’s increasingly curious about its own reflection abroad. “I would call myself a digital native who is exploring her ways in journalism,” she says early in the conversation. “Like a digital native exploring a bit of journalism here and there.” Her journey cuts across formats and newsrooms — MEA Worldwide, The Hindu BusinessLine, Firstpost, and now Financial Express — with every stop adding a new layer to her editorial identity. “At MEA Worldwide we covered mostly U.S. news, Hollywood, pop culture. From there, I got an understanding of how the U.S. media functions and what sentiments drive their stories. Later, when Trump came

Times Now Navbharat’s YouTube channel restored

By Staff writer in Media News on
Times Now Navbharat’s official YouTube channel was restored on Thursday, after it went offline earlier in the day. According to BMI, the channel handle and video library were accessible again, and the live streams had resumed. Earlier, BMI reported that the outage was due to a technical glitch, and the users who tried to access saw a notice stating it had been removed for “violating Community Guidelines, promoting speculation across social media.” Managing Director and CEO Ritu Dhawan called it an attack on “free and independent journalism,” adding that the broadcaster was working with YouTube and cybersecurity authorities to restore content. The incident occurred weeks after India TV reported a breach of its YouTube channel, stating that unidentified cybercriminals “suspected to be of Russian origin” deleted over two lakh archived videos and disrupted the live feed.
