Morning and welcome to Monday - hope you all had a fine weekend.
The scribes have been busy, of course, and today's The Australian leads with an exclusive - they routinely serve up five a day on the front page, four this morning - ('Red flags raised on China links during security deep dive on subs') that one by chief defence correspondent Cameron Stewart who reports one in 10 applicants in the AUKUS nuclear submarine program are rejected "because they have suspicious links to China, India and other foreign countries", reports Stewart.

Journalist saves transgender protester from jumping off bridge in Tamil Nadu
By Staff Writer in Media News on Friday, 14th November 2025 at 6:43pm
In an act that goes beyond duty, a reporter covering a transgender protest in Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu, saved a protesting transgender person from jumping off a bridge on November 12.
A group of transgenders were protesting, demanding free house-site pattas and government-provided housing. Upset over the alleged lax attitude of government officials, one of the protesters attempted to jump off the bridge. However, a quick-thinking journalist at the scene intervened just in time, preventing a tragedy, India Today reported.
The district collector later met the protesters and assured them that their concerns would be examined and necessary action would be taken at the earliest. Following this assurance, the group dispersed peacefully.
