Prasar Bharati invites applications for 88th DD Free Dish MPEG-4 slot auction

Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati has announced the 88th e-auction for MPEG-4 slots on its free-to-air DTH platform, DD Free Dish, scheduled tentatively for June 6, 2025.  Eligible private and foreign satellite TV channels, with valid MIB downlinking permissions, can apply by June 4, 2025, along with the necessary documentation and processing fee.  Successful bidders will receive slot allocation from June 13, 2025, to March 31, 2026, with placements based on language and genre.  Detailed auction guidelines and bucket rates are available on the official Prasar Bharati and DD Free Dish websites.

ANI files lawsuit against YouTuber over defamatory video

News agency Asian News International has filed a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against YouTuber Mohak Mangal, alleging that his recent YouTube video against the news agency contains defamatory and misleading statements, tarnishing the organisation’s reputation. According to Livelaw, the suit has been filed against a video titled “Dear ANI” published by Mangal on May 25, 2025. The plea stated that Mangal claimed in his YouTube video that ANI is using its copyright to trap people and is involved in extortion and blackmail. According to the suit, Mangal urged viewers to unsubscribe from ANI and misrepresented the agency’s communications using AI tools. ANI claims the video damages its reputation, goodwill, and registered trademarks. The suit also names comedian Kunal Kamra and AltNews co-founder Mohammed Zubair for allegedly amplifying Mangal’s claims on social media.
