MIB pitches regulatory regime for TV, radio and DTH

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has proposed a unified regulatory framework for television, radio and DTH services to streamline broadcasting regulations.
The proposal aims to bring broadcasting services under a common authorisation framework in line with the Telecommunications Act, 2023. It would cover DTH, IPTV, Headend-in-the-Sky (HITS), FM radio, community radio, teleports, and the uplinking and downlinking of television channels.
As part of the process, the MIB has approached the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to recommend the terms, conditions and fee structure for the proposed framework, reported e4m.
