IKON and AKQA become one

The new company will be designed to operate alongside AKQA Australia, absorbing all IKON assets and staff.
On the management side going forward, IKON CEO Lesley Edwards and AKQA managing director Chris Hitchcock will retain their roles, with Hitchcock elevated to national MD status.
The merger is part of a string of corporate movements AKQA has made in the past two years. AKQA already absorbed Switched On Media in late 2019, then went ahead with acquiring NZ martech firm Dominion. WPP legacy brand Grey and WPP AUNZ agency whiteGREY were later put under the AKQA umbrella.
