IBDF likely to move TDSAT as Kerala HC dismisses plea against TRAI regulation
By Staff Writer in Media News on Tuesday, 08th October 2024 at 7:39pmIndian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF) is likely to move to the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) after the Kerala High Court dismissed a petition of broadcasters against a notification of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
According to e4m, the High Court had dismissed the petition as “not maintainable” and said TDSAT was the appropriate forum.
The plea was filed by the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation, Star India, and Viacom18 and challenged the TRAI’s regulation which mandates broadcasters to provide channels on DD Free Dish for free to private distribution platform operators (DPOs).
