Beyond Goa's postcards: Misbah M on power, land and independent journalism

For many outsiders, Goa is a postcard destination of beaches, sunsets and susegad. For journalist Misbah M, it is a state grappling with environmental degradation, land disputes, governance failures and communities struggling to be heard.
In the latest episode of Influencing Insider, the founder of MQM24X7 spoke about launching Goa's first woman-led independent English news platform, reporting on powerful interests and making civic issues relevant in an era dominated by algorithms and shrinking attention spans.
"I had actually decided to step back from active journalism," Misbah recalled. "But after living in Goa for over six years, I realised this is where I live, where I work, where I pay taxes. It felt like my duty to do what I do best."
