By Staff writer in Media News on Friday, 11th July 2025 at 9:24pm
The Delhi High Court has ordered audio streaming platform Kuku FM to stop releasing new episodes of five disputed shows until the next hearing on August 29. This comes after Pocket FM, a rival platform, filed a copyright infringement complaint.
Pocket FM has sued Mebigo Labs, the parent company of Kuku FM, accusing it of repeatedly copying its content. The lawsuit includes claims of copyright infringement, misuse of trademarks, unfair business practices, and encouraging others to break contracts.
Pocket FM is seeking around $10 million (Rs 85.7 crore) in damages and a permanent order to stop Kuku FM from continuing these actions. They also want a local commissioner appointed to investigate and make sure no evidence is destroyed.
According to Pocket FM, Kuku FM copied important parts of five of its shows, Super Yoddha, Insta Empire, Amrapali, Vashikaran, and The Immortal Warrior, including key themes, characters, storylines, and relationships.

The controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, hogging the media limelight for quite a while now, has been allowed to continue by the Supreme Court amid demands by INDIA Bloc and other parties to stall the process. Besides not passing an interim stay order, the SC asked the Election Commission (EC) to consider Aadhar, electoral photo identity card (EPIC) and ration card as proof for voter registration in the SIR of electoral rolls.
Hot off the Press
Allowing the SIR to "go on", a Bench of Justices Sudhanshu Dhulia and Joymalya Bagchi said its judicial review of SIR would focus on the ECI’s power to undertake this exercise, the manner in which it was done and the chosen timing of the process, which “is very short”. It indicated that the nature of the Bihar revision seemed nebulous, neither ‘summary’ nor ‘special’ as categorised under Se
News next door: Coimbatore turns hyperlocal journalism into a digital force
By Suganthi Marimuthu in Media News on Friday, 11th July 2025 at 3:02pm
Coimbatore, a city that goes beyond its industrial background, from textiles to temples, manufacturing to infrastructure, is experiencing a different kind of a boom.
While metropolitan cities are well-covered by metro-based media organisations, whose voices, from civic issues to politics, quickly reach higher authorities, regional newsrooms in urban centers like Coimbatore are only now beginning to gain broader recognition across both print and digital platforms.
Regional newsrooms in Coimbatore are gaining prominence as they expand coverage beyond industrial developments, taking on civic and grassroots reporting often overlooked by metro-centric outlets.
Platforms such as Simplicity, Covai Chronicle, Covai Kathir, and Covai Post are shaping a distinct editorial presence in Tamil Nadu’s Kongu region, each with its own style and audience.
Simplicity, launched in 2016, focuses on local civic issues, with reporters stationed across Coimbatore, Ooty, and Tiruppur.

Starting Monday 4 August Planet America joins 7.30, Australian Story, Four Corners and Media Watch in a strong Monday night line-up.
Hosted by Chas Licciardello and John Barron, Planet America offers a unique perspective on US politics, providing the latest news and expert political analysis through a sharp satirical lens. The program will air at 9.35pm on ABC TV and ABC iView.
Chas Licciardello said, "we're very excited for Planet America to be moving to Monday nights, which is a more traditional timeslot for news programming on the ABC main channel. “Over the years we’ve been able to talk to Members of Congress, top advisors and dozen
