Herd MSL sub-agency Fuel Communications is seeking a new group director for its consumer/lifestyle practice, based in Surry Hills, NSW.
The consumer/lifestyle account director will be in charge of laying out the practice’s long-term direction and oversee campaigns for local and international client brands. They will also counsel the training of new staff and provide insights for clients. Some of the work may be carried out with Herd MSL sister agencies N2N Communications and Touch Creative.
Aspirants for the post must have the relevant college/university credentials and over ten years’ experience in consumer account communications. The person should demonstrate strong verbal/written communication, effective team management, and problem-solving skills, and be able to complete assignments ahead of schedule. Deep knowledge of the local PR industry is highly preferred.
SCA to hire audio journalist
Southern Cross Austereo is opening its doors to a new audio journalist based on the Gold Coast.
The audio journalist will produce news items for SCA’s FM stations and device apps. The content will also include items about the local community.
Candidates must have at least three years’ experience in a commercial radio station with a proven record of generating content within deadlines and can read out the news in a conversational style. SBS hiring for Tasmania correspondent
SBS’s Tasmania branch is opening applications for a new video correspondent, based in Hobart.
The correspondent will be primarily assigned to cover stories on the island that may have national interest and implications. They will also aid the newsroom with story ideas, and produce and edit the stories they cover.
The candidate should have at least two years’ experience in video news reporting, have skills in live broadcasts, can edit and upload for multiple platforms, and travel for breaking news coverage. The person must be highly familiar with Tasmania’s communities and SBS Radio.
Reporter wanted for Tumut and Adelong Times
The Tumut and Adelong Times in Tumut, NSW, is open for a new full-time journalist to be part of the team.
The journalist will be primarily engaged in covering general news and events in the Tumut, Snowy, and Monaro region. They will also be tasked to present article ideas during staff meetings.
Applicants must have a proven record of journalism experience, foremost of which is being able to write with minimal supervision and to submit multiple stories for editing within deadlines. They must be able to work on weekends, night shifts or holidays. The person must also have a valid driver’s licence.
Defence Force Recruiting to hire senior marketing officer

The Australian Defence Force’s recruitment arm, Defence Force Recruiting (DFR), and ManpowerGroup is in need of a senior marketing officer to be based in Canberra, as a maternity leave cover post.
The senior marketing officer is tasked with overseeing current marketing projects and to develop the associated content for them, from digital/social content to advertising material. They will also track each marketing campaign’s analytics and resources allocated.
The work will be carried out alongside DFR and ManpowerGroup’s Brand, Digital, Media, Research and Social Media teams, plus the brand manager and marketing officer for the Royal Australian Air Force.
The post is only open for Australian citizens, preferably candidates with detailed experience in management, marketing, and advertising. Essential skills required include budget accounting, data analysis, building relations with the media, stakeholders, and supplier.
