Businesses ditch traditional MSPs as Think Technology Australia backs client-set urgency and governed AI

Brisbane MSP reports growing migration from legacy providers across Brisbane, Canberra and the NSW Southern Tablelands, driven by demand for AI change management and support shaped around the client.

BRISBANE, Australia, 20 August 2026. Think Technology Australia, a managed service provider supporting Australian businesses since 1995, says a widening gap between what businesses need and what traditional managed IT delivers is driving a steady flow of clients to its consulting-led model across Brisbane, Canberra and the NSW Southern Tablelands.

The company points to two pressure points behind the shift: support models that dictate to clients rather than listen to them, and AI adoption that most providers are not equipped to govern.

"Traditional MSPs decide how important your problem is. Their triage rules rank your request against everyone else's, and a problem the client sees as critical can sit in a queue," said Mungo Bright, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Think Technology Australia. "We let clients tell us how urgent their requests are, because they understand their business better than any priority matrix does. It sounds simple. In this industry it is almost radical."

The company embeds security into every service rather than selling it as an add-on, aligning engagements to the Australian Cyber Security Centre's Essential Eight. Think Technology Australia holds ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certification and is a member of the Defence Industry Security Program, and works with partners including Microsoft, Huntress, Acronis and Anthropic.

Clients making the switch report better return on investment, faster response times, fewer recurring issues and happier staff. The company maintains a 98 per cent satisfaction rating on job tickets, and while it does not name clients publicly for security reasons, published testimonials point to the same pattern. One client said "I take great comfort in knowing that my technical problems can be resolved on demand", while another described the provider as "your IT department when you don't have an IT department", noting the team had "been very proactive". A third said "nothing is too much trouble", crediting the company with keeping their business running smoothly, and another said the guidance provided lets them "make confident decisions on budget, timing and priorities". AI has become the clearest dividing line between traditional and modern providers, according to the company. Its managed AI service, which brings Anthropic's Claude to Australian businesses under a governance and change management framework, packages adoption end to end: agreed outcomes, data controls, staff training and measured results. Delivered projects include tender response engines, quote builders and institutional knowledge assistants, alongside a SharePoint document automation build for a Toyota dealership that was covered independently in the trade press for the return it delivered.

"Most businesses can see the opportunity in AI, but they do not want another disconnected platform creating more risk, noise or complexity," Bright said. "They want to know where it fits, how it will be governed and how it will deliver value. When we get that right, clients see it in the numbers: stronger returns on their technology spend, faster responses, fewer recurring issues and staff who actually enjoy dealing with IT."
