Announcement posted by Magna Systems and Engineering 25 Jun 2026
Magna Systems has been appointed technology partner and distributor for Canara Lighting in Australia and New Zealand, bringing one of the lighting sector's most established specialist manufacturers to customers across the region through a partner with deep local knowledge, strong engineering capability and decades of experience across Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia Pacific market.
The new partnership is a natural fit. Magna Systems has built its reputation on professionalism, technical expertise and a long track record of delivering high-value technology solutions to broadcast and media customers, while Canara Lighting is widely recognised for delivering total lighting solutions spanning design, manufacture, installation, testing, commissioning and training.
Together, the two companies offer customers in Australia and New Zealand a compelling combination of global lighting expertise and trusted regional support.
Founded in 1972, Canara Lighting has more than five decades of experience in specialised lighting and is known for providing end-to-end solutions across a wide range of applications. Its products and systems are ideally suited to TV studio lighting systems, film studio lighting systems, auditoriums and theatre lighting systems, stadium lighting systems and architectural lighting projects. Architectural lighting applications include facade lighting, musical fountains, musical fountains with water screen projection mapping, sound and light laser shows and 3D projection mapping.

Canara Lighting's portfolio covers all the key elements required for a complete lighting deployment, including LED lighting fixtures, rigging equipment such as motorised hoists and pantographs, motorised curtain systems, cable management systems for power and signal, electrical control panels and lighting consoles.
The result is a true one-stop-shop approach - from concept to commissioning - giving customers a streamlined path from project design to operational handover. Once a Canara Lighting system is installed and handed over, it becomes a practical plug-and-play solution for the end user.
For customers in Australia and New Zealand, the value of the new arrangement goes well beyond product availability. Magna Systems brings long-established regional relationships, consultative sales expertise, systems integration capability and an experienced team that understands the operational, technical and commercial realities of broadcast, production, venue and infrastructure projects in local markets.
That means customers benefit not only from Canara Lighting's proven technology, but also from Magna's local guidance on solution design, deployment and long-term success.
Matthew Clemesha, group CEO of Magna Systems, said, "This partnership is a very strong match for both companies and most importantly, for customers in Australia and New Zealand. Canara Lighting brings an outstanding heritage, a genuinely comprehensive lighting portfolio and a proven ability to deliver complete solutions from concept through to commissioning. At Magna Systems we bring the regional experience, customer relationships, engineering mindset and market knowledge needed to help those solutions succeed locally. Together, we can offer customers a highly professional and dependable path to better lighting outcomes across broadcast, production, live venues and architectural projects."
Ajeet Khare, managing director of Canara Lighting added, "Magna Systems is the ideal partner to represent Canara Lighting in Australia and New Zealand. The company has an excellent reputation for professionalism, technical competence and customer support, as well as decades of experience across these important markets and the wider Asia Pacific region. We are confident Magna Systems is the best partner to introduce our solutions more broadly in the region and to ensure customers receive the guidance, service and expertise they need at every stage of a project."
The partnership also gives customers an immediate opportunity to see the solutions in action as Canara Lighting solutions will be demonstrated at the ABE Show (taking place from 30-31 July at Carriageworks, Everleigh in Sydney) on Magna Systems' stands 42 and 43, where visitors will be able to explore how the company's technologies support modern lighting requirements across broadcast, studio, venue and architectural environments.
At a time when broadcasters, production companies, venues and public-space developers are looking for reliable, scalable and easy-to-operate systems, the combination of Canara Lighting's full-solution capability and Magna Systems' local expertise creates a strong new option in Australia and New Zealand.
