CWA of NSW State Conference begins in Forster
WHAT: The Country Women's Association (CWA) of NSW opens its annual State Conference in Forster on Monday, May 4.
WHERE: Club Forster, 19 Strand St, Forster
WHEN: Monday, May 4, 2026, from 9.30am
---------------------------------------------------------------------
This year's conference is from May 4 to 7, and will be hosted by Club Forster, where more than 600 delegates and observers are expected to participate.
There are currently more than 50 motions up for discussion and debate - including a number of urgency motions - that cover the likes of education, health, the environment, agriculture, transport and telecommunications. It's expected among the urgency motions will be several related to the current fuel crisis and fertiliser shortages for agriculture. The outcomes of the motion votes will determine the association's policy positions for the next 12 months.
"There's more motions than ever up for consideration this year, which just reflects, I think, the times we are living in and the challenges we're facing. With that comes a realisation that rural and regional communities have to be even louder in our calls for a fair share of services and resources, and our association is committed to being at the forefront of that advocacy," said Tanya Jolly, President of the CWA of NSW.
Officially opening this year's conference on Monday, May 4, is Richard Colbran PhD, CEO of Rural Doctors Network, which this year marks the 30th anniversary of its partnership with the CWA of NSW.
Media are welcome to attend the conference opening, starting at 9.30am. CWA of NSW President Tanya Jolly will be available for interviews after the conference opening, between 11.30am and 12.30pm. The conference venue is open to media over the four days, and for further information or interview requests, phone Kylie Galbraith (Seftons) on 0411 480 208.
