Bushed Australia Launches “Buy a Cow” Campaign to Help Flood-Affected Queensland Farmers Rebuild

Queensland, Australia - 15 January 2026

Bushed Australia has today launched its Buy a Cow campaign, a practical, community-driven response to support flood-affected farmers and rural communities across north-west Queensland.

The campaign aims to raise more than $1,250,000 to help restock cattle herds lost in the floods, while also mobilising volunteers, tradies, grey nomads and caravanners from across Queensland to assist with on-ground rebuilding efforts once conditions allow safe access.

Recent flooding has caused widespread devastation across the region, with vast areas still inaccessible, properties isolated, and the full extent of livestock losses and infrastructure damage yet to be realised. Entire communities are feeling the impact not just producers with recovery expected to take months and, in many cases, years.

The Buy a Cow campaign responds to this reality by combining financial support with hands-on help, ensuring affected families are not facing recovery alone.

"As a grazier, I know first-hand the scale of what our fellow graziers and rural communities are facing, and what they truly need to get back on their feet," said Lyn French, Grazier and Founder of Bushed Australia.

"This campaign is about both restocking and rebuilding helping families restore their herds, repair damaged infrastructure, and begin the long road to recovery with practical support and genuine human connection."

Funds raised through the campaign will contribute to:

• The purchase of replacement cattle to help restore breeding herds and farm income
• Volunteer and tradie recovery camps, supporting fencing, infrastructure repairs and property clean-ups
• Coordination of skilled volunteers and community support teams to assist farmers and towns when access is restored

Bushed Australia is calling on:

• Individuals to donate or register to volunteer
• Grey nomads and caravanners willing to travel and lend practical support
• Tradies and skilled workers ready to help rebuild rural infrastructure
• Businesses and corporate partners looking to support regional recovery through funding, supplies or workforce engagement

"There is real hurt being felt across these regions," Ms French said. "This is a catastrophic event for many families and communities. Buy a Cow is about standing beside them — not just now, but for the long haul."
