Epson Australia releases second groundbreaking Sustainability Impact Report

Announcement posted by Epson Australia 18 Nov 2025

Updates sustainability progress, commitment and achievements

Furthering its commitment to its local and global sustainability initiatives and following last year's landmark inaugural edition, Epson Australia has released its second Sustainability Impact Report.

This second report is particularly significant as it reflects the company's ongoing transparency around sustainability and its responsible business practices across Australia and New Zealand.

Epson A/NZ MD Craig Heckenberg

Epson A/NZ MD Craig Heckenberg explained, "This second Sustainability Impact Report shows the progress we've made and also the ambition that drives us in the area of sustainability. It details how we work with our global teams, customers and partners to turn challenges into opportunities, guided by our company purpose and values. It also demonstrates how we are moving forward with energy, motivated by the impact of every action, large and small."

As Heckenberg states, this second report is comprehensive and highlights the real-life and real-world steps Epson Australia is taking to reduce environmental impact, support its customers and partners in their sustainability journey and contribute positively to the communities in which they operate.

Through this publication, Epson shares tangible progress, challenges and learnings across its operations, demonstrating how sustainability is now truly embedded in its local decision-making and corporate strategy. The company also reinforces its accountability to all of its stakeholders and provides a clear view of how Epson Australia continues to align with global best practices and local priorities.

Epson Australia's second Sustainability Impact Report showcases specific programs and partnerships including environmental initiatives, community engagement, innovations in product and technology and valuable contributions to multiple industries over the 12-month period ending March 2025.

As the company highlighted last year, to present a sustainability impact report means to demonstrate tangible actions and results.

For Epson Australia these include the completion of a full review of the company's value chain emissions and the setting of a near-term local reduction target to support their global Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goal to cut total emissions (Scope 1, 2 and 3) by 55% by 2030.

The company has also achieved a 25% reduction in total electricity usage driven by the relocation of its Sydney head office in November 2024 to a purpose-designed North Sydney location. The move significantly reduced the Epson head office's physical footprint by 60% and improved energy efficiency whilst supporting flexible, hybrid working practices.

All Epson sites in Australia and New Zealand are and will continue to be powered by 100% renewable electricity.

Epson Australia also takes responsibility for its products' end-of-life through waste management and product stewardship programs, including the collection and recycling of electronic waste and consumables to reduce environmental impact.

During the reporting period, the company has reduced operational waste by 29% through cardboard reuse and less timber pallet disposal at its Sydney warehouse.

They have also collected and recycled more than 21 tonnes of used Epson cartridges through the zero-waste-to-landfill Cartridge 4 Planet Ark program.

Epson's belief is that technology can help advance industry through sustainability-focused, resource-efficient solutions. In turn, this second Sustainability Impact Report report launch further reinforces how the company supports the local fashion industry with on-demand printing technology for fashion applications.

It also highlights one of the major announcements of the last 12 months and details how Epson Australia co-launched the Victorian Textile, Clothing and Footwear Manufacturing Report with the Australian Fashion Council and RMIT University.

This critical report provides a strategic roadmap to revitalise and futureproof local manufacturing, identifying five key areas to boost productivity, cut waste and drive innovation through sustainable technology.

In the report Epson also highlights its approach to supporting the local community through corporate partnerships, in-kind contributions and employee volunteer engagement. Beyond operations, Epson continues to invest in community and social initiatives, contributing 168 hours of staff time to support these initiatives since the release of its first Sustainability Impact Report.
