Today’s Ten: Indian hockey shines in historic venue against all odds

The lacklustre Indian campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024 with just three bronze medals (all in shooting) to cheer so far got a much-needed morale boost on Sunday, thanks to a spirited effort by the Indian hockey players that helped the team beat the odds against Britain in a nail-biting finish despite being reduced to a 10-man squad.
The venue -- Stade Yves-Du-Manoir in Paris -- could not have been more fitting for such a match as more than one leading newspaper has highlighted. Writing for the Indian Express, Mihir Vasavda wrote, “Stade Yves-du-Manoir in Paris has a mythical place in the Olympic universe. About 10 km from Notre Dame, it is the site of one of the greatest sporting spectacles, the 100 and 400m races of the 1924 Paris Olympics immortalised in the movie Chariots of F...
