The Chennai Press Club conveyed its condolences to his family and fellow journalists through a social media post. His final rites will take place in Mettupalayam near Kilpennathur, his native town.

According to The Hindu, the accused, a native of Tenkasi, was arrested from his native place on Tuesday. According to police sources, the accused had been living alone at his Coimbatore residence while his wife was at her native place for postnatal care. They allege that he used his acquaintance with the girl’s family to lure the minor to his residence last week and sexually assaulted her. The girl escaped and informed her parents, who then approached the police.
